ShoppingBurgundy Ballet Flats: A Small Autumn Update

Turn the product page into a set of questions you can actually answer.

Open the size information before choosing a size. Check whether the chart lists body measurements or measurements of the finished garment; those are not interchangeable.
Find a similar item you own and enjoy wearing. Compare the relevant measurements, following the retailer’s instructions for how they are taken. For trousers, the rise and inside-leg length may matter as much as the waist.
Look for information about fabric, stretch, fastening and intended fit. Product photos are useful, but the model’s pose does not show how the garment will behave when you sit, walk or layer it.
Read the return terms, including deadlines and any costs. If an important measurement is missing, ask the retailer. Waiting for a clear answer can be more useful than ordering several uncertain options and hoping one works.
